January 5: Day Eleven

Does free will require knowledge? Does a proton or a stray dog need to know something to be free?

Molina like most of us wants us to have a free will. It feels better to think we have some agency and choice. It’s also better for theology and morality. If there is no free will, if everything is predetermined, why do anything? Or worse, why not do anything?

I feel comfortable not knowing the future, mostly because I think it’s decided. That I don’t know doesn’t bother me, and it has no effect on my will. I will always try.
