In case you just came to, I am posting the top 10 songs on my Eye Tunes. That is, the top 10 songs based on the number of times I have played them over the last several years. Next up is that duo that used to be called Tom and Jerry and known to everyone today as Simon and Garfunkel.

Something tells me that my Eye Tunes data collection was intensely collecting in the 2015 and 2016 period. Why this came in at 229 listens is beyond me. I think it may have been that someone around that time described me as “a rock.” Maybe I am, but I sure don’t feel that way.

In any event, I have come to think of acts like Simon and Garfunkel and U2 as a little, well, privileged. These are white boys talking about emotional pain. Give me a break. And when I was in college this was so me. This is what I wanted. “A fortress deep and mighty/ That none may penetrate.”

Sure, that’s what I have built. But it isn’t tragic it is pathetic in the pejorative sense of that word.

“I have my books and my poetry to protect me.”

But it is what I have chosen. LOL, as they say.
