Power, Freedom, Creativity, and Respect—and Some Other Ones

Each year I write meditations for the twelve days of Christmas. This year as in the past, we’ll count Christmas Day as the first day and Epiphany as its own. I’m going to write about Freedom, Creativity, Power, and Respect, four things I felt I needed in my life. I will add Faith and Love to this mix. This opening, will be 200 words. The last will be 200. Each post on the 6 indicators of success in my life will be 200 words. That’s a total of 1600 words.

I landed on the four indicators in December of 1995 when I was 25 years old. They’ve stood the test of time; I have found them to be an adequate measure of my own status. Lots of power erodes freedom. Being creative can lose you some respect.

These measures made sense to me then. Love and Faith? I’m not so sure. Those will come last. These are meditations. I will try to make them readable and entertaining, but they aren’t for you, it’s a back and forth between me and God. Yes. Get over it. Dial out or dial in. As with every year, I’m looking forward to the talk.
